New tank RECORD 1,083km = 673 miles

Just set a new tank record of 1083 kilometers or 673 miles if you prefer.

The low fuel light came on 2 minutes before I took the shot and filled the tank so I likely had a couple of gallons in reserve.

44.993 Miles per UK gallon

37.46449408312 Miles Per Gallon (US)

This is a personal record for this car.

The Craigslist mob will have to up their claims to 50 mile per gallon now !!

I would be interested to know what the driving conditions were.
Also, how did you check your usage? Did you fill up as much at the end to check how much you had used?
It would be nice to think that it could be repeated tank after tank.

This was taken at 999.9 Kilometers. I had the polarizer on and the numbers are barely readable.

Cruise set to 75 over 90% of the time.

Driving conditions ranged from 70 to 22 degrees.

Sunny, to hail, to sleet to snow reported to be very heavy at 2 inches per hour by Vail. Climbing up the mountain took a lot of gas, descending the engine was slowing the descent. Pushed a lot of snow and water with the tires and was very surprised at the result. It took the gauge forever to go down. Over nighted at the Loews in Denver, nice place to rest for an evening and I would like to return to Denver.

Map

I track my mpgs by completely filling the tank, burp it for a few more bucks capacity and after the trip refill and burp again. I regularly get 38 mpg Canadian at 75 mph. This was a very good tank and yes I would like always get that result.

MPG varies as to city versus highway and mph traveled at.

Nice. I'm currently at a quarter tank after about 440 miles. This may be the tank where I actually see 30 mpg. Better yet-this is on B20.

Thanks for that.
The winter diesel is very evident.
It would have been interesting to know the source of the fuel.
You must have been lucky to have got a good batch with plenty of BTU's waiting to be liberated.
It just goes to show that maybe fuel composition is just as important as throttle pressure!!
I doubt that your driving style varies that much.
It would be an interesting exercise for a maths teacher to have their students do some statistical analysis on your data.

That is some great milage considering the conditions you were in.

I clicked on your map. and that brought back some memories of the area. we stayed in keystone two time a few years ago. it is off 70 at Dilion on Hwy 6.

that sure is apretty drive going from there down to Denver on the elevated portions of 70.
we had the 85 300D, and was still with the trap oxidizer, (Cali set up) and couldn`t hardly get out of it`s way at that high altitude. talk about a Dog .

the next year we went back we had that junk pulled off, and the car was like a rocket .

The engine was clean of all carbon buildup.

Earlier in the day there were a couple of long hills. 10 to 12 miles long. Warning signs read "switch off air-conditioning to avoid over heating" l went up at 75 mph, air on and yes the temperature gauge rose to within 2 needle widths of the 100 mark. My understanding is that the electric fans do not come on until the temperature reaches 100.

I didn't but I should have done a WOT at the top.

Also the engine temperature dropped to 1 needle width below normal 80 operating temperature on the way down as the engine slowed the car.

Fantastic trip 8,254 miles, did not add oil but am about 3/4 down now.
