87 300D Coolant leak
This problem is a little confusing. I just recently replaced my fan clutch, serpentine belt, and the complete belt tensioner w/ new shock. After I installed the above, I started to notice a small leak that seemed to be coming from my water pump. It continued to get worse, so i figured that my water pump went, so I took it apart again, and replaced the water pump. I carefully installed the new pump, cleaned the surface from traces of old gasket, and replaced the pump, and gasket, and it seemed to go on quite easily. I just started the car up to check for leaks, and the leak still seems to come from the bottom of the pump, however, I do not think it is the pump. The leak is now quite bad, as I just drove around the block, andjust made it home before overheating. Anyone have any thought???

Problem Solved! I took it apart again, and the gasket at the bottom of the pump did not seat properly. Even though this has been a pain, I at least determined what the problem was, and now I'm getting good at taking of the radiator, fan clutch, etc!!

No need to remove the radiator, next time. Glad you found your leak, though.
Jay.
