5 Speed alert

I wonder is it has five speeds forward, or that includes reverse. I should call but i have enough cars, my wife would run away

That one wouldn't have it since it's a USA model unless it was imported and federalized. Though, there was an ad for a 5 speed 300D in the Seattle craigslist a few weeks ago for $700. I asked about it and the guy said it has 5 forward gears plus reverse.

It looks like it could have cloth upholstery, cant tell for sure, anyway I called the guy. Sounds like its being sold for payment owed at a storage yard. I dont think the guy I talked to knew for sure but he claimed it was a 5 speed, (all forward).

Not cloth upholstery so not euro model in my opinion. Most these five speed ads to more than a few frustrated members travels have turned out to be four speeds. Even after the sellers assurances they were five speeds.

It looked like the outside panels of the seats could be MB tex with the rest cloth but I think your right, its all tex. My 85 Euro TD came with MB Tex according to the Russian site so it still could be a federalized Euro. I'm betting not tho.

I'm sure Tex was an option on Euro cars. My '84 5-speed Euro TD has a burgundy Tex interior.

there are still some old school yokels around who refer to all manual transmission cars as "5-speeds". i guess that comes from a time when automatics topped out at 4 speeds...?

Turned out to be a 4 speed 300d canada spec, with a 5 speed gear shift knob.

...just like ANY 6 cylinder engine is a V-6, even if it's an M110 or a Ford 300 or a Jag 4.2...

Or the yokels that believe every manual column-shift is a three-speed. I can't remember the number of times (especially on eBay) that I've seen old Mercedes advertised with a 'three-speed on the column'. In the '50s, Alfa-Romeo actually offered a five-speed column-shift on some of their cars.

I like the cloth seats if the outer panels are MB tex. I think the later 123s cloth seats were all cloth. My 85 Euro 240 had light colored (baby poo yellow ) all cloth seats and those outer panels were really hard too keep clean.

not yet, its sitting in the drive as it was 2 months ago. Since I bought the wife a car the priority of the car shifted and now she keeps finding other things for me to do. I will get back to it after the 19th this month though, shes going to be out of the country for 2 months finishing her masters. Im debating throwing on the ground effects and a paint job too while shes gone.
