Would you buy this engine?

Found a local shop that is selling a complete long block 300D-T, with a rebuilt turbo. Engine looks great and has all reciepts.

Here is the catch!
Owner had it built 12 years ago and its been sitting in storage and never installed or started. Owners said he turned it from time to time.

Should I buy this if the price is right or walk away?

Price?

I'd give it a shot depending on your need for the motor, spending cash you have, and the thrill of installing and seeing how it goes. Always gets the heart pumping rapidly for the first several minutes.

What was done that the receipts are for?
How many miles had the motor done?
Why did it end up in storage?
What happened to the car?

I would want to know much more details about it first.

Worth investigating. If price is cheap especially. Buyer beware of couse applies unless some form of solid indication is present.

How it was rebuilt and by whom is also an important factor.

Have seen receipts for work and all are good shops.

The big question is sitting, could I end up with an engine that is going to have leaky seals etc from drying out.

It's not the seals I'd be concerend about really. 12 years in an environment that would cause rust to form on the open valve seats, or not?

Receipts for what work? Without answers to all the questions in post #3 we cannot offer any intelligent opinion.
