How can you tell the front struts are shot? I hear a loud sqeaking noise when I press on the front of the car, in both driver or pass sides. The car does not seem to bounce that much. I did not hear the noise before. The car has 228K but ODO stopped when the car was bought. ODO is fixed now but the actual mileage is not known. Also I changed out one of the top suspension mount soon after I bought the car.

Squeaking is not likely to be the struts. Balljoints would be my best guess.
