It doesn't look as bad as the blow-by on my 1975 W115 300D. FWIW.

Mine is a tad worse, don't worry about it.

looks good. My SD is a tad less, but this is not bad at all. My other SD blew the cap off after loosening . Investigation found piston blown in #3 pot from a jug-head (PO) using ether

Its not worth worrying about. If you had any less, it would be sucking air in!!!!
When you smoke out your garage if you take the oil filler cap off, then you worry. If it was puffing out like a steam train & the compression was low, then its getting bad.
Does it use much oil?

There is too much discussion here that makes it sound like blowby is the kiss of death. If you haven't got a geyser worthy of Yellowstone going, don't sweat it....

Blowby isn't bad until it pushes oil out the dipstick tube. I had a 351W that did this and I still drove it for over a year that way.

I did not think it looked that bad. But I do have low compression in 2 cylinder after a WOT episode (read link in first post). My prelim data points to valves and I think the blow by also supports this.

Next step is a leak down then decide on a head redo or long block

A WOT is not a runaway, not even near it.
The high idle governor was controlling the motor at max revs.
In a runaway, oil/vapor fuels the motor in an uncontrolled manner.
Have you adjusted the valves recently?
I would drive the car for 5k miles before doing much apart from adjusting the valves unless there was a problem before your WOT event.

Doesn't look bad to me. One of mine is worse, the other isn't as bad. Yours looks fine.

This was a runaway, WOT non goverened almost disaster!!!!!!!!!!

8000 rpm plus and would have melted down in 1-2 more minutes, this is no joke and not to be treated lightly. It scared the crap out of me and a few other poor soles who have poorly installed a shutoff valve.

First step was to adjust valves and they were all way off, prior adjustment was done 3 months ago. So the runaway threw them out for sure. After running it for a while the compresion test was done, you can read the links in the first post for results. BTW compression is messed up. But read the links in the first post and you will be up to date.
