which front brake pads do i order?

1985 300d. turbodiesel
the guy at napa seemed to think there were 2 different possible sets of pads for the front brakes. i can't really find any evidence of this online.
these seem to be right:

i measured about 89.5mm as close as i could looking at my calipers.

anyway here's my brakes: (sorry for the blurriness)

Earlier W123 models used a thinner pad. You need the thick ones.

I know quite a few people who speak highly of the Axxis Deluxe (formerly Repco) pads.

so when you say thicker are you referring to the amount of pad material or overall width of the pad?

Calipers were widened by 5 mm +/- 1980 to take thicker pads. Old type 15mm and new 17.5mm (ie total width, pad + backing). all other dims same.

The aftermarket part no. you want is D145-7111. If you give this number to the store, they should give you the right pads. Prior to 1980, it was D145-7036.
The difference is the THICKNESS- 15mm old, and 17.1mm new pads (the 7111). Thickness is the assembly thickness- including the metal backplates.
