Oil leak from A/C compressor line?

Black oil is leaking from the bottom of the compressor line closest to the fender.

I looked for an above drip, but can not find one.

Anyone experience similar?

black?
likely it's the oil cooler lines you are looking at.
if your a/c is dripping black, something is very wrong...

which car?
it could also be the SLS lines on your wagon...

My '83 has a very small leak at the cap that covers the oil galley plug on the front of the engine. It also holds the timing pointer. The leak drips from the one line going into the compressor. It is 1-2 drops per week, so I'm not really concerned about it.

Yep, it's the upper oil cooler line.

After a nice wash, the leak showed itself.

The bracket that holds the two lines came off and both lines have been rubbing against the steel mount. Rubbed a hole into the softer metal.

This job looks challenging...

LOL, all things are relative... this should be easier and cheaper than if the leak had actually been where you thought it was involving the AC system... you don't want to know what we were about to suggest to you if that was the case.... LOL

Better get the skinny on the while-you're-in-there's. Don't the driver side engine mount and shock have to come off?

I'll take the new line to a hose shop and have them cut it, adding a connecting element to the middle. This should make installation easier.

Another forum member described what he had done. I can not locate the thread, at the moment. It's worth a look.

You can simply bring your old lines to a hydraulic shop and have them replace the hoses and install the coupling which you desire, that would save you some money.
