2005 E 320 CDI Oil Level, Change

Hi, my car has 114K miles, is about 5200 miles from the next B service. I found myself parked in a fairly level lot this afternoon so I ran the oil level and it said "Reduce level". I removed the top cover and pulled about 1 cup out, and it looked like normal Diesel oil: black. Did not seem thinned with fuel and it has not been losing coolant and runs perfectly.
I think I'll change the oil early. Is there anything strange about changing her oil, other than sucking the oil out, replacing the filter, and adding the correct amount of new Mobil 1? How much does a B service usually cost? Thanks!

Not much to it. Make sure you get the right filter...It's the "longer" one for the CDI. Many of the internet parts houses have an error in the database and report the same filter for both E320's and E320CDIs. The filters are the same diameter, but the diesel one is longer.

I always have to look up the procedure to reset the "service needed". It's not all that intuitive.

Thanks, I parked in my garage last evening, and ran the level check and it was OK. I still plan to change the oil, though, and did not want to wreck the engine due to lack of knowledge.
