83' 300TD Seat Belt Clip Cracked

My drivers seat seat belt buckle's plastic is cracked in half. This is causing the buckle to slide all he way down to the floor making a bit difficult to grab when first getting into the car to buckle up. My silly question is there any way to replace just the buckle or does the entire belt need to be replaced? Is it difficult to do?

you'd have to replace the entire assembly to fix that.
there are belt clips you can order that hold it in place though.

Years ago mine did that and I cut off that second loop part and just started using the single part. It does move around some but I just got used to it.

Replacing the whole belt assembly isn't that hard, just grab one at the junkyard.

What is the best way to remove the side panel between the doors to get at the mechanism?

If it's like the W126, remove the one screw at the bottom, slide the trim up, then you can get pull it out of the way.
