420 console panel into a 300SD?

I found a newly installed wood console panel in a 420 at the PNP today.
I was poking around in another car when it came out on the forklift.
I had out of the car 10 minutes after they set it down. The rest of the wood
was trashed, so it's obviously a new replacement. Says Behr on the back.

I just need to figure out the wiring for the windows.
Can anyone help me out on this?

As always, thanks,
Jeff

Was that out of a late W126, like 1990 or 91? If so I think you'll find the opening in the wood for the shifter is a different size.

I hope you took the connectors from the 420 as well. Then it'll be little more work than moving pins from your harness to the later connectors.

The shifter openings are exactly the same and, yes, I did get all the
connectors with plenty of wire. Not sure of the year on that 420, but yeah, later model. Both 126 so I should be able to get it to work.

The new outside mirror control also has an extra pin in #3 that's wired.
The 300SD is missing that pin.

That's because the later mirror control lights up at night

OK, makes sense. So, there's an extra wire on each window switch, as well.
I assume those light up? Any suggestions on where to tie everything in so
that I have a nice new Xmas tree in July?

Does the shift gate use a bulb or a fiber optic cable?

Otherwise the ashtray and lighter are illuminated and nearby.

The panel installed successfully, but I had to rewire all the switches.
Not plug & play. I wouldn't have done it if the wood hadn't been perfect.
I had to use the existing passenger mirror control and cut down the plastic
housing to fit in the new hole. I think the '89 420 mirror has two motors-- one up and down
and one side to side. I think the existing mirror has one motor with some sort
of clutch. This according to schematics Sixto was so nice to send me.
The mirrors are also heated.
The clips are different for where they slide into the console and just barely work.
Grounds are all wired differently and some color codes were squirrely but everything works.

Thanks again Sixto,
Jeff

For future reference on my part, as I need to replace mine. Could you not have just popped out and re used your old switches? Maybe you could have but just wanted these that look so good?

IIRC 81-85 126s have ganged front and rear window switches through a common slot in the console. 86-91 126s have individual switches through individual holes in the console.
