Transmission pressure drops after warm up?
After a whole lot of transmission troubles, mostly due to vacuum leaks and clogged filter among other things, I thought I was going to pull through and get many more miles out of this transmission. However, now when I start the car up in the morning it behaves as if the pressure is very high, almost like the modulator isn't working at all. The shifts are harsh and there is a big clunk when rolling to a stop. As the car warms up the pressure drops, the clunk goes away and it starts flaring more, not downshifting properly and slipping a little in 4th, almost like it's low on fluid (it's not, unless my dipstick is deceiving me,).
The car is an 81 300td. Any ideas would be appreciated! |

Have you actually measured the pressure? By that I mean is it actually doing what think it might be?

I haven't checked the pressure, it's just behaving that way, so it could be something else, I've pondered some sort of obstruction in the cooler line... I suppose i should check the pressure cold and warm and see what comes up.
