Cool 1974 W115 Diesel Limo

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-BENZ-LIMOUSINE-FACTORY-RARE-/260817075099?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3cb9e8bb9b

So I thought this was a very interesting car, and the guy claims it is factory. It has a 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine but I have no idea which it is. The interior looks sorta rough (was a project car, that may be the source of the engine) and as you can see, has no extra seats but does have many square miles of leg room. Now I'm not quite sure if this car is legit or not but if it is, and there are more out there, I want one. Would be perfect for high school just because it won't fit into a regular parking space. Overall I think it's a real cool car besides the fact it has no sunroof (Who knows why it doesn't). Question is, have you seen one of these before or know how much one of these is worth?

While the back of the car has the badge "turbodiesel" it is not a turbo charged engine. If it sells for the current $810 it's a deal if that's what you want.

I knew something was wrong... You have any idea what engine it is in there? And I'm not really planning on buying it, just thought it was a cooler idea than the W123 Limo

Wasn't the 1978 W116 the "worlds first turbo diesel production car"? And this car is a 1974... 115...

Yea that did throw me off... Only if I was smart enough to look at the engine and actually know the difference between a turbo and a nonturbo

That isn't a factory limo, it's an aftermarket stretch. And probably not done by Binz, either.

See the difference?

What he said, the factory limo's have doors in the center. This one is clearly a cut and shut.

What is that large round thing on the left inner fender? It`s not th air filter, it is mounted in the lower left of the picture.

I have seen this thing on the streets here with a For Sale sign forever. I mean EVER.

I am no expert on what's factory and what's not but I woulda been *shocked* if that came out of the MB factory.

But it's certainly unique. And there's a seat for every fanny.

That simply has the standard 617.910 NA motor in it. Charlie I think that tank is a vacuum reservoir hooked to the intake. Interesting vehicle if it's in good shape. It would need some more power though.

Ken, is the interior of the car any good up close?

That thing looks awful, the interior is a disaster! I could swear I see a fuel pre-filter right by that tank looking thing under the hood. I wonder what it is.....

I wonder if that tank is some kind of WVO setup? It's mounted where the battery should be. I can't make any sense of the lines running all over the place.

I wonder if it's for Propane injection
