Help- Transfering diesel pump from 1988 to 1976 OM616
Hi. Can anybody help me answer this question...
Can you swap/transfer later model diesel pump from 1988 OM616 ( 240D engine ) to same, earlier engine from 1976 ??? Am trying to install recond engine from 1976 240D into a 1988 207D van which uses the same engine. Everything else has changed over Ok but pumps are different. Thanks Grant ( New Zealand ) |

Hey Grant, welcome to the forum.
Every one tries to be as helpful as they can. What is different about the IP's? The old pump may be the type that is not lubricated by the crankcase. Can you post a couple of pics? There is probably a ton of information about both pumps on here if you go looking. I see its a van. Others will tune in about that. I didnt think they used the standard 616 in commercial vans etc. I was under the impression they used a slightly different one. Some one correct me if I am wrong!

Hey layback40, thanx for the welcome and yes the older pump is not lubricated by the crankcase.
The later one is I've been told. In the end it maybe easier to recon the newer original engine. Know anybody who want a fully recond ealy 240 D engine ?? The van was imported from London, England in 1991 and is quite rare in NZ but there a few camper van versions. Has survived quite well and is not rusty like European surviors. Cheers Grant |
