Power to Manual Window Conversion on a W123 Coupe
Can this be done? All the info I found on my search was in regards to a W123 sedan. I'm interested in finding out about the switch in a coupe. Where do the cranks go in the rear? Does anyone have any pics of this set up?
It seems that sourcing the parts is fairly easy and cheap compared to the power parts. My rear regulators are completely shot and getting worse. I fear the windows falling in/down next and would like to make the switch soon. Any experience, info, pics, or guides? Thanks! |
I swear ive seen a euro coupe with rear manuals but cant remember where the handle was., but Ive also seen front manual rear power coupes. I assume you are trying to get rid of the rear window regulator issue? I thought about this to but in the end half way down powered is still better than having to try to crank the rear windows down when I want to

yes, getting rid of the rear window regulator issues, that's what i'm getting down to. i don't put the rear's down right now anyway (can't now) so i'm not too concerned with what will happen when the cranks go in. actually, i'll probably use them more.
i finally found a video from germany on youtube showing rear window cranks. i believe they attach directly where the power window switch is now. a little lower and farther forward than i expected. the big question for me is: will the manual regulator just bolt right in and do its job without any sort of tinkering? quick additional question: are manual window regulators the same for coupes and sedans? on the dorman parts website it seems to suggest so: http://www.dormanproducts.com/da-32981-740-476.aspx
obviously they could be wrong. thoughts? knowledge? please help! |
Did you ever find out if the regulators were the same for coupes and sedans?
