4-Speed Swap Drive Shaft Question
So I messed up the grooves on the front yoke of my drive shaft and need another custom one made. I have the front section of a 300D auto shaft, which is smaller in diameter than the 240D manual drive shaft, which I used originally. Can I just get the smaller, 300D one lengthened or should I keep the larger, 240D shaft?

Well I didn't notice that there was a difference, but maybe I forgot. But you well know that the splines have to be the same in order for it to work, no way around that. Looks like you might have to make a trip to the junkyard, which is a pain when you are trying to finish a job. Then when the splines line up, cut it to the correct length. We messed one up also. We sent in the wrong shaft for to be shortened. Since you are just changing transmissions, you might list the length and the spline count and inside diameter. It would be a real coincidence, but sometimes you luck out.

Are you going to try to install the vibration damper which they put on the 240 with manual transmission ?
If so, you might need the front part of the 240 driveshaft...

I used the original 240D drive shaft and shortened it; there was no vibration damper on it. The only obvious difference is the diameter. I haven't checked the splines, but I assumed there'd be the same amount, I suppose I should verify that. Disqo has the rear section of the DS, so if I need it cause of the splines, I can get it from him.
At this point, I'm evaluating the option of a completely new custom shaft. From the looks of it, they can be had for only a few hundred bucks.

The splines are all the same from all the one`s I have pulled. It would be better to shorten a DS than to add to one. really don`t think the shops will add to one.
