83 240D charge light on after key removed
The charge light stays on after engine shuts down and key is removed on a friend's 83 240D. The light goes of as normal when the car is running. He is disconnecting the battery so the battery doesn't drain over night.
I suspect (but haven't tested) that alternator is charging because the light goes out when running and he hasn't had any cranking problems. Any ideas on likely culprit(s)? He is supposed to bring the car over tomorrow.

Could be a ground problem, check the ground strap from the engine to the body. I had the same thing, along with some other issues, and the connection on the engine side was the problem. make sure it is tight and clean.
