Talking Old Benz? Read this!

I am a 50 year-old professional-type guy with a 79 300SD. 190K. My lovely and sophisticated girlfriend (just a few years younger) remarked how unusual it was that I have an OLD Mercedes, when I could probably afford a newer one.

I explained, "I'm the opposite of most men my age- who at middle-aged crisis go out and get a 23 year-old girlfriend and a hot car. Me? I've got a 23 year-old car and a hot girlfriend."

This statement alone has helped my relationship more than you can imagine. Now my girlfriend runs as cheaply and dependably as my Benz, and warms up much faster!

Since I suspect many of you fall in this same "life-category", I hereby donate this bit of flattery for the common good of all concerned. To ensure maximum benefit from this dialog, double up on your viagra dosage beforehand!

Dave Larson, 79 300SD Ivory/Palomino

Thanks. I'm in the doghouse myself and need some good flattery.

I think Dave covered that, assuming it would inevitably be the case, with the double dose of Viagra.....

Talking

Dave,

I just read the story to my wife and she got a kick out of it. I'm in a similar situation - 49, married a 39 year old woman and I now drive her father's old 82 300SD. Yes, I could afford a new car (maybe not a new Benz, however!). I often say (in public where I get maximum points for it) that SHE was my mid-life crisis.
By the way, is it really POSSIBLE for a wife/girlfriend to overheat? Can they possibly be TOO hot? I don't think so!

- Ted

Ah... But try explaining to the hot chicks why a 23 year old drives an old Mercedes... See, I'm 23 and all my lady friends hate/don't understand the 300D. Frankly, none of them run as good as the car, some would even make the 300D seem fast. I guess its a man thing.

Overheating would not bother me. It bugs me when she smokes and starts leaking , though.

Here:

Women are prissy, perfectionists, and mercuriel (sp?). Dielsels are NONE of these things (and are also a lot of other things that women aren't)

Diesels are manly. What else is there to say? Girls hate them (read: don't understand why we like them) the same way they do Harley davidsons and american football.

A big advantage of old MB diesels is that most women don't want to drive them.

Hey, my 26-year-old girlfriend loves my 300D, or "Benzie," as she calls it. When we drove it cross-country after purchasing it, she liked its comfort, highway manners and bus-sized steering wheel. She also noted that there's nothing better than following the three-pointed star.

I let my mom drive my 300D to work for a few days while I worked on her Toyota 4runner(a month ago). I havent gotten the 300D back yet.

hot wife

When I bought my 300D it was supposed to mine and the wife was to drive the new truck. She drove the old Benz a few times and I have not seen the car since. I guess some have some smarts after all. I still have to wonder about her, when she has stayed with me for twelve years.
