W123 Coupe Windshield

Can someone please give me a definitive answer?

Is the windshield in my 1978 300CD the same as any other W123 windshield?

No.

Coupe W123 (C123) windshields (front and rear) are specific to that body style only.

Sedan front windshields are compatible with wagon front windshields, but not coupe windshields.
Sedan rear windshield is only compatible with other sedans.

Wagon rear windshield is only for wagons.

While we're at it

Why not join the "bad news for Coupe owners" club (just like I did)? Here's more:

Front fenders are also not interchangable between sedans and coupes.

Ditto door window regulators.

Ditto window seals.

Ditto front carpet mats (though I don't think the difference is large).

Seriously... if your car has deficiencies on stuff like this, start doing regular searches on eBay and scans of our parts for sale area.

You can get stuff reasonably, if you keep an eye out.

I respectfully disagree. The fronts fenders and everything between the fenders is interchangeable between all W123 models, though there may be variations of some parts from year to year. The lower outside glass seal is a generic seal that is cut to fit for more than one model.

As for the windshield, it is not like you can't even get one. They are still available new, though probably higher than a sedan windshield. Just check out www.safelite.com for one source (and I'm sure the MB dealer can get one too).

The mirrors are also different (door mirrors for obvious reasons, but the inside rearview mirror is also different).

It'd be a good idea to have another coupe as a parts car, hopefully as near of a twin as the primary car

I had my windshield on my 300CD replaced last fall for $200 at a local shop. It is a PPG product. I also had to replace the windshield seal which I got from Mercedes Classic in California. There are no US spec windshield seals available, only Euro spec. The difference is that the Euro is designed so the glass will pop out in a collision and not shatter. The seal was $116 last year.
