wiper motor replacement w126
Hi everyone!
So I need to replace the wiped motor/transmission on my '81 300SD. It's a 250$ part so I'd rather do it myself if its possible. I've read through posts for wiped replacement but am not sure if its the same with a w126. Has anyone done this before? Thanks! |

I've done it three different times. It very easy, remove the long rubber gasket under the hood in front of the wiper assembly, remove several clips that hold the piece under the wipers. Then remove the wipers themselves, by lifting the back of the clips upward and unsrewing the bolt that holds them in place. Wiggling them a little will release them. Then pull up the metal shroud covering to expose the motor. As I recall there are three bolts to remove the motor/transmission. The next part is the only difficult section. Unplugging the motor, it's a two or three piece thing, that's a pain to put back together , at least it was for me. Take the new/used part and reverse the operation. Take time to align the new wipers properly so they neither stay up too far when shut off, nor clunk when they reach the bottom of their travel. It should only take 30 to 45 minutes.
