Front seal on A/C Compressor serviceable?
I revamped my 260E's A/C back to R12 about a year ago now and it was running GREAT. Only problem is its lost pressure....
The only places I can see it leaking from is at the front of the compressor (a shop told me he saw a small leak there before) and maybe the A/C lines. Can the seals in the compressor be DIY'd or is it strictly purchase a rebuilt compressor? Thanks guys.

I am not sure about your car, but many do admit seal changes with the compressor in the vehicle. It takes special tools, of course, and if it's possible, it will still be a very tight space for working. The cost of the tools will likely exceed the price of having the job done professionally.

I have no problem removing the compressor....I'm just wondering if I really have to spend $350 on a new compressor if I can change the seals myself?
Its a four seasons currently. PO replaced somewhere between 1999-2003. That's all I know. It was functioning okay when I had it working though.

Now the best question....where would one find the seals needed?

If Phil doesn't sell them, try Arizona Mobile Air.
