87 300D passenger front window inop

On the (chilly) way to work this morning, the passenger side front window would not go up. Tested the driver rear and it is also inop. changed Fuse H but this did not fix it. Any ideas on where to go from here?

I do not know if they are similar to the 123s but on my 84 300D when my front Window did not work; after removing the Door Panel I found that there was a Terminal Block at the Bottom of the Door and both of the screws that held the Window Motor Wires where loose.
Tightening them fixe the problem.

If you want to get you Window Closed; again on a 123 the Window Motors are not grounded through the Chassis like a Starter Motor is.
You can connect the Window Motor Wires to a Battery and the Window will go one way. Reversing the connections will cause the Window to go the other direction.

Looks like your Fuse Setup is different than a 123.
If you have a bad Fuse you either lose both front Windows or both Rear Windows.
See thumbnail.

This might sound silly, but open the door, key on, hold the button and slam the door closed a couple times. Sometimes the mechanisms will jam all the way down or up if they are in need of some cleaning and lube.

Will try that but the fact that the driver rear also does

not work would tend to implicate something else. 124s are fused right front/left rear. If the left rear also does not operate-as in this case-it is usually the H position fuse. Since a fuse change did not resolve this I am looking at the wiring diagram to see what else could cause both windows to become inop.

What winmutt said about the Window Switches themselves is true.

Taking apart the Switches and cleaning the Contacts that get burned can restore Window Function.

This is what the contacts looked like in one of mine from a 123.
It took scraping with a Pocket knfe to clean my Contacts.

Ding Ding Ding We have a winner

I completely forgot that the left rear has been inop for 6 months-thus the failure of right front and left rear did not actually point to the fuse. I pulled the switch and bathed it in contact cleaner. Passenger front window now works. Still have to find what is causing the left rear to fail but at least no more chilly rides to work. I agree that taking it apart is -all of them- is in my future.

The wiring in the B pillar is broken. This is a known issue on the 124. Pretty easy fix. A search should bring up plenty of infol.
