1981 300sd questions electrical crank case vent etc

Im working on my 81 Mercedes and need some help.

First I bought the car and drove it home and the lights kept dimming then next day the battery was completely dead. I bought a new alternator and can't find the right size belts. I ordered from autohauz.com they send me the wrong size belt. Went to kragen and they gave me one that's too small. Anyone no the right size?

So I installed the alternator with one old belt and started her up (no jump but im positives the old owner did). The alternate wasn't charging.soooooooooo :-) I decided to do a diesel purge (using sea foam) and that went wonderful!! It really cleaned the pump. So I messed around and all of a sudden the benz started charging. What do I check that causes the alternator to charge??

The gauges arent working all of a sudden either? What causes the gauges to do that.

I need to pull the turbo the turbo to manifold seal os leaking and the oil line is leaking is there a diy link.

Thanks!!

Eh?

I'm sorry I'm not American I don't quite get what the problem is.

Are the faults as follows?

1) Gauges don't work
2) Alternator ISN'T charging - if so how did you check that?

As for the correct parts - try asking the forum's sponsors I'm sure they can help.

Please don't think I'm being rude - that isn't my intention - consider me to be a foreign git and just set the record straight for me - then we can see about helping you out.

I'd check the connections on the alternator and the ground for the gauge panel. What oil line is leaking and can you explain in more detail the problem with the turbo to manifold seal?

Ok ......yes that what I did I wiggled the connection on the alternator and it started working.

Gauges .......they were working before I changed the alternator..were is the ground.... also is there a fuse or relay?

Turbo.....the oil return line is leaking..... I sprayed carb cleaner looking for leaks around the injectors etc....were the turbo goes into intake manifold leaks if you spray carbon cleaner. I need a diy. To make it easier

Ok I have a question about the crank case vent.... I removed the intake and putting a custom intake on....can I just put a hose from the vent to the turbo line with a pcv valve on it?I made ann oil trap but I would rather not use it.

Sorry my cell is freaking out.

I got an oil seperator today for the benz. It has a plug at the bottom too drain the oil. Im going to put a hose end on it and have it drain into the engine. Im running a cone filter. Hopefully the new intake wont become an oily mess like the stock one plus you can hear the turbo spool.
Any answers to the above post.
Just bought 2 pairs different size belts hopefully one will work!!
