w123 - difficult to install new exhaust?

Guys, I have an '81 300D and the muffler/exhaust/pipes finally gave up and rusted through. Most noticibly just front of center... A nice gaping hole in the pipe. The whole length of it is beat up, really, and I'd like to replace all of it.

Can somebody tell me what parts I should anticipate needing (I'm guessing aside from the muffler/pipes probably the hangars?)

Also a quick summary of what I should be prepared to do, and what tools I'll need?

This baby is my daily commuter so I want to get this done quickly and efficiently.

Thanks as always.

zc

Look in the Buy Parts tab above, and your year and model.

looks like $246.79 for the header pipe, center and rear mufflers. If you need clamps, hangers and other hardware, a few dollars more. Call Phill, and you should have it all the next day.

Easy to install. I have replaced mine here in the yard, and have dropped it a few times working on the car all in one piece. can be done by your self. much cheaper than going to a muffler shop.

I see you live where the Govt. love to use salt. there is an out fit that makes stainless systems. www.timevalve.com

Use Kano-Kroil to loosen up the frozen fasteners. some good stuff

Got it... How bout a buffer and a damper? Not familiar with what those are, or if I even need to replace them. Really don't want to miss anything.

You are always best off to do the whole thing in one shot.

Don't forget to order the hardware kit... and new exhaust hangers (donuts).

Alright... So piece this together for me, brother

1. Header, center, rear
2. Buffer, damper
3. Mounting kit
4. How many donuts?

Then I'm ready to roll?
