Difference between 85 300D and 300SD engine?

Ok, so before I get arm deep in this, are there any major differences I should be aware of in the engine coming from a 85 300SD and going into an 85 300D?

Turbo location etc same?

Parts I need to switch around from the 300D's engine?

Thanks!

AFIK, it's just the oil pressure location/sensor, and the motor mount arms. everything else should be identical. as long as it's not a CA motor!

Cool. It's a 275k mile car, but mercedes dealer put a new engine in it at 175k so it's a 100k engine. Basically worked out a deal where he drives over the car and I part it out for him in exchange for the engine.

That sounds like an AWESOME deal.
I'm working on parting out two SD's there is a LOT of stuff to take out in there.
how deep does he want you to part it for him?

All the way, bonus that we are going to split anything made off the parts, he gets the full amount from the crusher once done (about $450 for the bare body)

So it nets me a new engine, plus some added cash as I sell off stuff.

On that, are the rear doors the same as the 300D? specifically that little quarter glass? How about window regulators and the such?

The SD is a W126 and the D is a W123, so no, two different chassis.

You'll have to switch the entire oil filter housing and the mounting arms. Otherwise, plug-and-play.
