Bad news

Benzy failed her inspection today. The suspension is too worn to safely pass and I don't have the time to fix her myself.

Had a long talk with the parents and my dad. So far we're considering a front end suspension rebuild, but due to the fact I can't do it myself I'm expecting a mechanic to charge me upwards of a 1000$ especially in ithaca.

I'm kind of bummed right now. Lot of crud hit the fan recently and this just adds to the trouble.

I am guessing the inspection station provided you with a list of failure items?

Give yourself some time to get over the bad news then give us the breakdown of what they say needs doing.

"Suspension rebuild" doesn't tell us anything as a general term.

We only have bi-annual Emission inspections and Brake and Headlight Inspections on Cars that you buy with Salvaged titles that you are returning to the Road.

Newer Diesels have an Emission Inspection but I am not sure on the details as to what years are involved but I know it is not the ones from the 1980s.

Of the things that they can easily see during an Inspection the Lower Ball Joint is the one that involves a lot of work; to a lesser extent the Upper Control Arms.
The rest is no so difficult or time consumig.

False alarm! Turned out that all of the problems were caused by a loose idler arm bolt.

I replaced it last summer and I'm guessing the bolt came out a little bit.

Either way it passed and I'm in the clear for one more year.

Time to get ready for chads gtg
