1987 300TD in Pull-A-Part yard, ATL

1987 300TD in Pull-a-part yard. South Atlanta. Not much interesting stuff except for an immaculate owner's manual and service book. If you own one of these rare vehicles, you may want these.
I may be going back there. If I do, I may pick them up to sell (at cost) to someone who needs them.

Both tail lights seemed to be in great shape. The car itself seemed to be in excellent shape. I think the motor went "BOOM" based on the 2 gallons of diesel oil that covered the engine compartment. The motor was gone. The body showed no rust/collision damage that I could see.

What color is the tailgate? I could use a rustfree tailgate in Brilliant Silver color. Thanks.

Engine and all engine accessories are gone. Car is white with, I think, blue MB-Tex. Dash looked to be in great shape with no major cracks (maybe no cracks at all, didn't look that closely.)
I can pull tail lights, Aquaticedge. The tailgate looked just fine, but wrong color. Having it repainted should be no problem, but that's your call, tq190.
I will probably go back this week, so let me know.

awww I hate that!!

Even if the owner was a moron he should have at least had some idea that is was a rare car. I am sure a lot of people around here would have paid $500 for straight rust free TD body, even with a junk engine.

To date I have yet to see a wagon, w123 or otherwise, in the yards. My brother swears there is a 124 wagon locally but it's hard to tell. He states the rear end is now at the back of the front seats.

If I could have gotten there when it came in, I probably would have bought it before it hit the yard. By now, it would cost too much to R/R.

"I will be there on Sunday I guess. Wanna hold hands and skip through the junkyard?" - That won't attract the wrong attention at all. When are you going?

once it's in the yard usually it's where it stays, if Georgia is like florida's DMV it already has a COD on it's title

How many miles?

How many miles were on the odometer before it went boom? If it quit on its own, I wonder why. Maybe the owner didn't change the oil, or ran it low on oil.
