I want to remove the window tinting on my rear window. Is there any chance of wreaking the defrosting field, or is that inside the glass?

If it is the SD in your signature, no you won`t hurt the wires, they are laminated in the glass. there is the wire on each side you could damage. the POS and NEG wire.

The fine wires live between the two layers of glass The only danger they face is when the glass de-laminates. You'll see this as the corners turning white.
