ACC II; is there a way to test it?
Hello,
I have a 1985 300D KaliKar with the ACC II climate control unit. Suddenly the temperature control aspect of the unit seems to not be working. I get heat all of the time. When I first got the car I never got heat; I found a torn monovalue diaphragm and replaced the core; all was working for a while; heat, A/C, vent, all OK. Now no matter what I select I only get heat. The fan speed seems to work and the direction of air (which vents are utilized) seems to work. But only heat. I'm in Houston; 34 days of 100+ so far . I don't need no heat. I have removed the ACC II unit, torn it apart, looked for any broken solder, re-soldered the connections just to be sure and still the same result. Is there a test procedure for these units, or am I looking in the wrong place?

You might check for battery voltage at one monovalve terminal and continuity to ground on the other. (Key on, ACC "off" and any setting except Defrost, temp selector detented to Min temp.)

getting sufficient voltage to close, which it does at actuation time. OR, the valve could be leaking, or inoperable. Take it off, put it on a bench, and make sure it strokes and doesn't leak. There are lots of posts with 'howto' info.

You actually have the ACC III if you have the 85 300D. the Kali set up shouldn`t change anything.
ACC II would be the Evil Sevo. This is an old thread, but go down to post #22 and PM DMORRISON, see if he still has the e-mailed soft copy he could sent to you of the manual. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=58282 Here is the DIY links for the climate control. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=142408 Charlie

Try here: http://userweb.windwireless.net/~jimc/mamerepairs.html#acctest
Also try unplugging and re-plugging the monovalve to re-seat the electrical connector. On mine the connections got loose. I ended up disassembling the connector and tightened up the sleeves and the heat stopped. Everything else was working fine, just the electrical connector was intermittent. |
