Newb with 1998 E300 leaking diesel

I stumbled on this forum about a year ago when I got this car and you guys were a huge help with my first round of repairs (motor mounts, blower motor regulator, window regulators, glow plugs, and glow plug relay).I thought I might see if you'd be willing to help me out with round two. I noticed that I was dripping a decent amount of diesel when the car idled and I believe I've tracked it down:

It's under the intake manifold.

Appears to be the first, second, and last of these thing-a-majigs (technical term for you non technical guys, LoL).

^^^^^^CLICK ME FOR A VIDEO^^^^^^

It's hard to tell by the video, but by about 15 seconds of idle time it's actually dripping about once every 5 seconds. It appears to be seeping around the aforementioned thing-a-majigs and accumulating until it drips off the side. I really don't know much about diesels (obviously) so any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance again guys!

You are correct.

It's a detailed project. Study it and follow the instructions and torque procedures carefully.

You'll need a torque wrench, crush washers and orings + the splined socket, IM gasket and EGR seal ring.

I personally would remove as few parts as possible (elements, colars, etc) as that seems to be when most people get themselves into trouble.

2nd that on TMallison's comment. I've done this procedure using the DIY on this website. Just take your time and make sure to torque properly.

I own the spline socket for this procedure, so if you are interested in renting it from me I'd be willing to.

Parrot of Doom did an excellent DIY on the delivery valve seals. You might pay particular attention to the part about slightly rocking the valves as you hand screw them in. It helps to center the internal parts. I would also suggest that you change out both the seals and copper crush washers. Good luck!!

Will do! I'm quite not as technically inept as my original post indicated, but I've got a VERY experienced mechanic who will be supervising me when I tear into her as a precaution. I buy the beer, he makes sure I don't destroy my car!

I was planning on cleaning out the intake manifold as best I could, but is there anything else I should go ahead and do while I have it off? The car has about 143,000 on it and had the clear fuel lines/o rings replaced at about 100,000 by the dealer. Mileage has been down a little, but I attribute part of that to a change in driving habits (more in town driving) and part of it to the leaking delivery valve seals.

I'm still new to diesel maintenance, so any advice would be great!
