Acceptable behavior???

This post is a follow-up regarding another thread. As a new member of this forum I am interested in what other members think and feel are the limits and parameters of discussion and discourse within these many threads? Should anybody be offended by personal insults? When should a disagreement be over contradictor opinion be taken seriously? Should members seek to opine and share in the sprit of generosity or debate? Maybe this topic is more appropriate for the open discussion area but since joining I've spent most of my time in this Diesel Discussion than any other and I've come to appreciate the collective wisdom within. Every thought and opinion is valued. Thank you all.

BillyBob, if someone parks in front of your house in a MB , but gets out with a pistol in their hand you have made them mad with something you said here....

I read that "other post" you are referring to and it was ridiculous the way people were behaving. I feel that if you have an issue with another member, you should try to handle it in private. We are here to learn about cars....not other people's dirty laundry.

I tend to agree with MRWITH

The sad part is, in the enthusiam to address the post, my original issue has been left in the dust.

At the end of the day, we are here to enjoy the cars, help each other out and sell parts for FastLane our gracious host.

BillyBob,
I've actually wondered that myself. This seems to be a great group of people and I think everyone is allowed to lose their civility every once in a while. I think P.E. Haiges (or however you spell his name) once came up with a "clever" play on my screen name and called me an airhead. If you ever get offended (I'm not quite sure which thread you were originally refering to), just put it behind you because in the end, those aren't the people that matter to you. Most of the time (most, not all), I attribute the barbs and insults to the passion that some of these guys (er.... people) have for their cars. But again, these instances are rare so I just ignore them and enjoy the forum.

Peter came thru in the clutch

As usual, PSFRED had the diagnosis. Although I don't like the answer, I do appreciate the input and the "cure".

He's the man.....

Having met Peter (psfred) when he came through Macon recently he is what we call in this area "good people" as I'm sure alot of everyone else on here is too. He is very knowledgeable about these diesel MB's and we really enjoyed having him out to the house. mikemover and ducati would have enjoyed the vino rosa with us while talking MB diesels.
I have learned over the years that it is best to read the post real close prior to posting them. It is easy to post something that can be taken out of content - this holds true with email too. I always try to post in the same "tone" that I would use if I were talking to the person face to face. I am not the type of person to put somebody down just because I may know more than them. One of the best sayings I have ever heard was - when entering please leave your ego at the door - works really well at work although very few people use it unfortunately - LOL.
