looks like my 87 is gone

Well, I had to open my mouth... My mechanic, heard I was thinking of selling the car as it sits. Which is currently torn down to the block waiting to be put back together... he's the one that tore it down. Offered me 2k for the car cash. Which is about what I have in it... so if the cash comes though in the morning the cars his.

Take the $$ and put it in your 85's. Maybe stay away from 87's

I sort of lust after SDL's but it's just because of the headlight wipers...

keep in mind that shopping list of new parts on mine, plus a fully tested new head sitting there for it and literally every single part/bolt/gasket needed new to put it back together.

Plus he's the one that took it apart and has first hand knowledge of the condition of everything else. He knows he's getting a good deal.

I'm going to take the 2k and buy a new DC powered split 18k btu AC-heater for my house...

like this http://www.solarpanelsplus.com/dc-air-conditioning/

I figure I need 2 of them to totally heat cool my house and this will get my 1/4 of the way there...

good point there...

what do the DC units cost? I've already got solar on my shop roof... (not a lot, but enough to power my lights and such) (I use MB batteries with the Charge controller... I've got a lot of them)

Looks like the units run around 1700 bucks for the 18000 btu air/heat. They require 800 wats of panels and 4 batteries also... So to take them solar your looking at another couple grand. But after that, it's free heat and free air... And at 300+ a month electric bills cooling right now, they would pay for themselves in short order...

I'm also tossing up a pair or 4x8 flat panel solar water heaters... Should be good to heat about 3000 gallons a day. Enough for my jacuzzi and washing etc. Plus it will get rid of the electric water heater which should really help bring down my bill...

Edit, that's 300 gallons not 3000. I can't edit correctly on my iPad, it does not let me scroll down far enough in the typing box.

ngarover, you are my hero. Selling a torn down 87 for $2K AND running your heating and cooling on Solar!?

That is just too cool.
