Ode to Startron

Wow, I finally broke down and went to NAPA after someone here posted a good price for the 8 oz bottle. After reading enthusiastic threads here I decided to give it a try. Now let me first say that my Dad ( original owner since new) tried various products as did I when I got the car. After the first tank I noticed a huge difference. I did not do a purge I just let the tank get low added 2/3 of the bottle and drove it around. The next day I filled her up and did an Italian tune up. I just filled her up again and man !. She idles smoother and quieter.
Now I am really anxious to adjust the valves ans see how she runs. Thanks to all for recommending this product.
Alan

From their web sight "In diesel application, add 1 fl. oz. of Star tron Diesel Additive for every 32 gallons of diesel fuel."

8oz should treat 256 gallon.

"Can I add too much Star tron?

Q. Can I add too much Star tron to my gasoline or diesel fuel?

A. No, you can not overdose your fuel with Star tron. If you add too much of the Star tron product to gasoline or diesel, no problems will be encountered."

Glad that you got the result you wanted.

I didn't see any Star Tron but they had some kind of germicide stuff with all kinds of warnings on the label. It was a big bottle.

Sorry I have not followed up here. The point of adding the Startron was due to my schedule. When I got the 85 300SD from my Dad just over a year ago it had sat off and on for many years. I planned on running Biodiesel when available.
I was changing the fuel lines anyway so I went with the Viton hoses. Changed all except the ones under the fuel tank and the tank strainer. The car had almost stopped running a few times when the tank got low ( yes I changed the fuel filters and had extras in the glovebox) I have not been motivated to pull the tank strainer as long as I keep 1/4 tank of fuel. Anyway after reading here about the various products and my own experience I went with the Startron.
Now let me say I was surprised when I used a couple tanks of Biodeiesel by the results. Now after running 2 tanks after a full does ( and then some) of Startron I am a believer. Smoother idle, no smoke, and definitely more power.
Now on to the valve adjustment and B2 piston replacement, and tranny service.
I am not knocking the other products but I have never had such a great outcome from any fuel additive.

Startron vs Soltron

I purchased Soltron at NAPA. Is Startron the same? and, if so, which one? Amazon has a bunch of different Startrons by Starbrite.

It's the same stuff, I don't know why napa still carries the old/different label. That stuff worked wonders in my tank
