Odd vacuum glitch
I pulled up at work Sat. and went to shut the car off. It wouldn't. So I got
out opened the hood and used the stop lever. No big deal. I thought I'd get out the mighty-vac when I got home and find the vacuum leak. When I got home the car shut down fine. I spent the afternoon hunting for a leak to no avail. It's now Monday and everything is as it should be still. Any ideas?

The hose that is attached to the shutoff diaphragm can develop cracks due to the heat and you'll get intermittent performance.
Any hose under the hood can suffer from the same malady and finding it is a PITA. |

My TD does that periodically. It's done it maybe 4 times in my 8(?) years of ownership. I know it's about to happen when the downshifts get harsh. Have no idea what it is. Everytime it has happened, problem has disappeared the next time I start it. I figure maybe a sticky check valve in the pump? I say don't worry about it until it happens again and doesn't go away.
