W124 window regulators
Suck... they suck...
The rear windows do not work at all. The right rear was not working when I got the car and is being held up by a tire brush. The left rear is not responsive to the window switch and now the right front is incredibly slow on the up and down. I love this car.... I should just get the drivers side regulator and change it as well. Thursday I'm going to take the door panel off on the right front and investigate. |

If you read the threads on Window Problems the most common cause of Windows not working are the Contact Points inside of the Switches being burned. On mine I took the Switches apart and scraped the burned part off of the Contacts and they work.
For Switch cleaning and other Windo info: DIY Repair Links http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/forumdisplay.php?f=82 http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/DoItYourSelf Next would be Fuse problems. actually Pull the Fuse out and inspect it where it contacts with the Fuse Brackets. I had a Fuse that looked good but the end was burned off of it. Broken Wiring where the Door Hinges. Lastly Window Regulator or Motor issues. Remove the Door Panel and find a way to Connect up the Window Motor to Battery Power so that you can test it. The Window Motor is not grounded through the Chassis like your Starter Motor is. You Battery power must be connected to the 2 Window Motor Wires themselves. Swapping the Motor Wires to different Poles on the Battery changes the direction the Windo goes. Once you get the Window moving Window Regulator Problems if any will show themselves. On 123 the Rear Window Regulator Plate can bend and warp. I do not know if your year and model can have the same issue. Below is what I did to my Rear Regulators. The rear regulators work like a little elevator, they can snap the little cable. The good part is they're easy to remove/install. I would also check out the wiring in the door jam.

also on the W124's the wires for the power to the window regulators tend to break/decay.
Right at the bottom of the B pillar. where they turn 90 deg from the floor up. Take the door apart, carpet out of the way to expose the wires, and replace the wires from the door, to a known good spot in the floor. It's worth the time, believe me.

I'll check that all out tomorrow. I do know the right rear is no good at all. The left rear might be the switch(but the rear switch doesn't do anything as well). Then the right front has gradually been getting slower and skips a little bit.

In addition to various wiring and switch issues I found that the window motor bushings dryed out and got tight. I took the motors apart and lubed the bushings and the windows moved a lot faster and smoother.

For some reason the right rear regulator on 124's seems to be failure prone. This thread may help.
