How to put on merit badge???

Go ahead and laugh.

I figured this was easy, too, and maybe they simply designed it wrong. Could that ever be? From MB? Nah. Can't be. Must be me.

I got my first 250k merit badge. It has 2 plastic semi circle things, which I guess are to protect the car on the front grille, and on the back side so your screws hold it in place.

But when I put the badge through the grille with its long screws, it leans way forward. Seems like it should lay flat, but there's nowhere that will happen. I found the best spot for it where it wasn't leaning forward so much, but it still leans forward more than it would seem it should.

Any suggestions?

Ah, I think I see now

Ah, I think I got it now.

It has 2 big hard rubber washers all the way down, that I thought were part of the badge assembly, but looks like those might come off after all. The screws that came shipped with it were on pretty tight, and clamped those rubber washers down tight.

I'm going to take the badge back off the car, and see if those come off.

Nope, that's not it, either

No, I was right the first time; the hard rubber washers do not come off.

I guess the badge simply tilts forward. You'd think it'd tilt backwards onto the grille, not forward, away from it. Pretty weird. I'll have to stop by an MB place some day, see what they say.

When I went to the dealer for both of my milage badges, most in the office didn`t have a clue what I was talking about.
There was one lady that had been there for a while that knew and helped me.

I don`t keep them on the car all the time, usually when I go to a GTG I`ll stick them on.

I just checked to see how they line up. the very top section of the grill, it does tilt down. between the second section and thire, it lines up and is level/ the top and bottom of the badge rests against the horizonal strips and does not tilt.

Did your come with a flat plastic piece with a slot for the back side?
the black washers and nuts I left on, and purchased some additional ones and some flat washers to tighten against the flat plastic piece.

Yes, 2 plastic pieces

Yes, miine came with 2 white semi-circle plastic pieces. I guess that's to protect the grille in front, and the rear side so you can put the nuts on and it'll have something to stop against.

No big deal, I'll drive around with it the way it is.
