Anyone care to post how to check Chain Stretch in the OM603 or the 60X series engine?

It's your call whether to replace or reuse the valve cover gasket. It's a $30 list/$10 discount part.

I know, but, at the end of the first sentence "or the 60X" is requested...

OM60X where X <=3

The DOHCs have a far more positive cam alignment visual aid. The goofy 601/2/3 method of aligning a horizonal line with a vertical line across an air gap leaves much to be desired. I average a half dozen measurements then wonder if someone before me moved the adjustable crank pulley tab

Sorry that was pedantic wasn't it?

Anyway one day when I grow up - may be if I'm good - I'll have an OM603 and I'll know what you're all on about...

...but then I might just skip to an OM606 for my diesel converted 1950's truck...
