This is why I drive a Mercedes

Hi all, Had a very bad Friday, I got a call and the news was my wife was in a terrible accident on the highway. She was run over by a transport that didn't see her when stopped at a construction site. I am almost convinced had she not been in that TDT she would have been killed. She is beat like she went 9 rounds with Tyson but relatively unscathed. Unfortunately my 87 TDT's life is over. I will never be able to replace it. It had a perfect engine and run great. I guess all and all it did what it was designed to do and that was save someones life.

Has she still got both ears?

Glad to hear she is going to be ok.

It does not, They opened it at the scene. None of the doors flew open like most cars in an accident like that.

Did the seat back fail?

Glad she is ok. I'd still want to be checked out by a doctor for possible back and neck injury.

Seat back did not fail, the radio actually came out of the dash and landed in her lap. The rear suspension on the drv side was tore from under the car. She spent the rest of the day on a back board and neck brace and in a MRI. She is lucky.

So Nice, that the Supreme Commander is O.K.

[Even if Bruised up a Bit]

Man,I'd be having Nightmares about seeing the grill of a Freightliner GROWING in the RVM for years, after going through THAT!

[I did get RE at a stoplight years ago in Atlanta,BUT I was on a MC and never
saw or heard anything.]

Save that OM603 though...Not many left.

Glad your wife is OK. No airbag in the '87 Canadian version? Too bad about the car but yes, save the engine and look for something similar. Will the truck driver get his paddies slapped by your court system?

WOW! I love my car more and more!
Very glad everybody is OK.
be SURE and save the engine if you can, heck, I might buy it from you... replacing cars is WAAAAAY easier than Humans!!!
I highly doubt the airbag would have deployed in a rear end collision. it's more for frontal issues!

Count your blessings.

The car did what it was designed and asked to do, save her life.

I strongly encourage her to see a quality chiropractor and/or naturopath. Conventional medicine does not have the tools to deal with the type of trauma one experiences in a crash like that. Instantaneous G-forces are extremely high.

I very glad she is OK.

She has Air Bags, but like previous poster said they did not deploy because of the rear collision, The older AB systems needed the front bumper to collapse. The engine is perfect and I will see if I can get it. I know the Ins company will offer me nothing. I just spent a bunch of money on it. All new brakes and I mean everything new including back plates. Sucks, really sucks.
