ongoing fuse issue

I have a 1980 300TD and it is continually blowing the #3 fuse. The one for the passenger side marker lights and the dash lights. Any ideas on the easiest way to trouble shoot this? When I put in a new fuse its good for about 2 minutes and then it begins to melt and finally pops.

I don't know what number 3 protects - what does it say on the back of the fuse box cover? There is often a card with what's what written on it.

Blowing fuses....?

Hi-
The rule when troubleshooting electrical issues is always check for good Ground connections. There are several ground points on these (and any) cars. Instead of trying to find them all to see if they are o.k. do what I always do with older cars- ad a couple Grounds to the system. I've added (4) 8ga. wires to my '83 w123 300d. They are 'starred' from the Ground at the battery to: 1. dashboard ground point (behind instrument cluster); 2. transmission bell housing; 3. rear fender (behind tail light); 4. front fender (behind head light).
My lights are bright as can be and I don't blow bulbs or fuses since this fix. I did have random fuse issues before this though. Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
Chris

Thanks. I've considered doing this.
