Turbo conversion?

Anyone ever tackle a non turbo to turbo conversion? There is a few donor cars around her I could use.... Is it a bolt on type or is the compression different?
Thanks!

I'm guessing you are talking about OM617 to OM617a?

If so you'll find loads of information on the forum about it.

Most people will say just go and buy a turbo engine.

If you want to do the same job as Mercedes you should have a look at the following SAE publication

The Turbocharged Five-Cylinder Diesel Engine for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SD

You might be able to obtain it a no cost via your local library.

There is information about this publication here

OM617 SAE Paper

There are a few people who have made some conversions to their normally aspirated (N/A) om617s and you'll find most of these threads in the diesel performance section
