240d sunroof wind deflector not going down

Hello,

More than once, I have had trouble getting the wind deflector to go down when I close the sunroof on my 240d. Does anyone know what causes this? Do the wind deflector hinges need more lube? Im not sure how to prevent it from happening. I don't know if it matters but it is a power sunroof.

Thank you for any help!

Have you ever removed it the deflector? Back on my old 300sd the springs were shot and it wouldnt pop up. I know you said yours wont go down but perhaps the springs are to blame or there is something lodged in there..

... won't go DOWN?
um, that sounds like something is broken for sure. as the roof closes, it slides across two chrome arms, and pushes down on the deflector... if your arms are bent or broken, it wouldn't go down.

Yep! More than once the deflector wouldn't go down far enough to close the roof. I will give it a closer look. Thanks for the suggestions. I will post what I found.

I never have, but I have cleaned it out as thoroughly as I can several times. I will give that a shot. Thanks!

Ok I found the problem. There were some small pine cones stuck underneath the arms- the sunroof was having trouble pressing them down far enough. I cleaned it out and it works the way it should. Thanks!
