1983 300sd exhaust flex replacement

I have to replace the flex section on my exhaust pipe. The only one I could find locally is 2.25" ID. The original is nearly 2.5" but the main exhaust pipe is approx. 2.25" ID. Will this smaller flex be OK to use?

it's what I used. works fine.
I cut down the connector to the old one, so the new one fits snugly into the collar, and mig welded it right in.
