I would like to get axles ( half shafts ) from the pick and pull for my 1984 SD. What year / model is the correct donor car? All the 420 & 560 cars seem to have a plate on one end. Did a lot of searches and can't find the answer. The 380 SE and 300 SDL's seem to have the same style axle as the SD, but I don't know the length.

Some 123 Axles will have the Spacer/Plate on them also.
The spacer adjust your Axle so that the Locking Ring inside of the Differential can be installed but after it is installed you should feel on end play in the Axle.

Can't help you on lengths except that I read the length is measured with the Axle compressed.

if it has the plate style axles, just pull the clip inside the diff same as on your car, and keep the entire plate assembly.
