Ok to remove monovalve and run without it? (85 300D)
I am waiting on a rebuild kit, but while I wait, is it OK if I just remove the monovalve and put the cover back on? I want heat, but I don't want to remove the monovalve if it is going to cause coolant to leak everywhere... Is it ok to just take it out and not block the hole the monovalve leaves behind off?
Thanks! |

But you could cut the plunger of fhe shaft below the diaphragm, then reassemble. Last edited by tangofox007; 11-14-2011 at 04:02 PM. |

Just unplug it, and you'll have more than enough heat.

The insert also seals the valve, so removing it is no good; coolant will go everywhere. You could undo the hoses and connect them together with a coupler, I guess.

On a normally operating valve, yes. On a malfunctioning valve, mabe not.

At the very bottom of the shaft, you'll find a tiny c-clip. Pull the c-clip and remove the rubber/metal disc from the very end of the shaft.
Reinstall the plunger, sans the disc, and you'll have very good heat. Disconnecting the electrical connection won't usually provide any heat with a torn diaphragm. |

If you need a working monovalve for a w123 I've got several that are cheap and in working order. $12 includes USA shipping. PM me.
