Mahindra allegedly tried to break their agreement with Global Vehicles, possibly when GV had orders for about 50,000 trucks. They did this by delaying emissions certification from the Punishment Agency. The whole deal is tied up in court. I wouldn't hold my breath on the Mahindra.

I haven't heard anything about a diesel Tacoma, no mention of it on the Diesel Technology Forum, and they're on top of what's happening in the industry. Cummins is experimenting with a new engine in the Nissan Titan, but I don't see the point of that, as the Titan is mediocre at best, and the market is in a smaller, economical truck IMO as opposed to a full sized half-ton.

That is way over priced, about 1/2 what they were new. think they had the Isuzu engine.

Seriously? Got a link?

Looking for it. I know they promised back in 09 that it would be in the US in '10 but then kept getting pushed back. I'm really hoping it isn't just another "test" of the US market where they say they're going to do it and then use the reaction of the public as basis for bringing it or not.

I have a 1985 Mitsubishi truck with the Turbodiesel. They were made for the U. S. market from 1983-1985. Dodge sold them as D-50, and were basically identical except for the badges. Used engines are available from many sources, including the larger 4D56 (2.5?) that came in the Pajero, and other non-U. S. market vehicles. These engines/trucks are much easier to find than all the others (Nissan, Toyota, Isuzu). The stock 4D55 (2.3) in my truck is very peppy, but not as much as the 4D56. A friend of mine has a 4D56 in his truck (even the same color!) that he got from one of those used Jap engine places. His is intercooled from the factry, so he needed to make a hood scoop to direct the cool air through the intercooler. His truck will set you back in the seat when the turbo spools up! He did spend a LOT of money for this setup, but he feels it is worth it....

The Chevy Luv is the only vehicle I know of which rusting the frame in half is not uncommon.

My indie has a rust free but rough VW pickup he says he could put in running condition with a good used engine for 2500. I am tempted but the upright seating in a standard cab pickups would cutrail my ability to stop on the road and have a comfy nap so I hesitate.

It would make a great town runner though.

It was an effort by John Perez, which means there's no way in hell it would ever work out. I still want my 244X-
