Question:

95 E300D / automatic transmission
86 300E / 5-spd manual transmission

Will the manual transmission flywheel from the 86 E300 fit the 95 E300D crank? I'd like to do a swap so that I can have a manual trans in the diesel.

Yes it will.

That's good.

I was concerned about the single mass/dual mass flywheels with their different dimensions and shims.

How about the pilot bearing? I assume the 606 crank has provisions for this.

Here's a pic. You can see the usual spot for the pilot bearing. You shouldn't have to care about dual mass at all, none of those details are on the engine, only the flywheel/trans.

OM606 bellhousing - is it the same as an OM617?
