Brakes Buzz
Hi all,
I just replaced all 4 rotors, and all the pads. Now, sometimes when I apply the brakes, I hear a buzz (similar to hitting the rumble strip on the side of the highway, but not as loud) from the front brakes, sounds like the passenger's side. What could I have done? Thanks, Jack |

Answer
Check the anti rattle clips are not damaged or missing.

any chance you changed wheels or lugs when you did this?

if not, perhaps the rotor bolts are backing out and hitting the caliper?

How did you adjust the front wheel bearings? Last edited by tangofox007; 11-26-2011 at 09:04 PM. |

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions.
I didn't change wheels or lugs. I checked the anti-rattle clips, and I think they're back together alright, although they are a different style than the ones in the wiki PeachPartsWiki: Front Brake Pad & Rotor Replacement. Mine are bent wire that goes under the slide pins and presses up against the sides of the caliper. I checked the spindle nut. Maybe it was a bit loose, so I redid the tightening and backing off. Just did a test drive and still have the issue. Probably unrelated, but I think I damaged a bearing on the other wheel when I was removing the hub. The hub was stuck on after removing the spindle nut and outer bearing, so I had to beat on the rotor with a hammer some. I get the typical thunk thunk thunk when turning in the opposite direction. Any more ideas about the buzzing? The brakes work well, and stop the car fine. The thin backing piece on one of the pads did fall off before I installed it, and I just stuck it back on. Could this be the issue? Thanks, Jack |

If the wheel bearing is damaged better change it.

I plan on changing the bearings on the other side ASAP. I don't think that would be causing the buzz though. Also, I didn't use any "brake paste" when I installed the pads. Just some lube on the slide pins. Was this a mistake?
