Really odd indicator lamp actvity

Hello all,

I just read that some of the later W123s had ABS. Last night, I was driving fairly slowly through a large puddle (I know how deep it was) in the road, so I ventured through it and the oddest thing happened. Everything worked, car moved right through the puddle, but I saw three lights flash three times on the dash. The Battery light, the Brake Wear light and the BRAKE light. These were lit very brightly, and flashed exactly three times in around 1 second intervals (maybe not exactly one second, but consistent timing). Didn't give it a real thought, until it happened again twice when returning.

I know it could be a alternator issue, but that wouldn't explain the very electronic-ish activity of the lights, nor why they would blink instead of stay solid/dim/etc...

You'd know if you had ABS, there woud be a large hydraulic valve unit under the hood.
