Put a 1985 300D glow plug system on older 1978 300D
I've read a lot about the conversion kits for upgrading the loop style system to newer style system. I have a 1978 300D in the garage now. I found the kit on fast lane. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-parts-reference-library/178765-f1101-88322-kit-converting-loop-series-gp-hotter-pencil-parallel-system.html
Does that kit have an after glow relay? We need after glow. I have a newer style glow harness and afterglow relay from a parts car lying around. Why i couldn't just hook that up like the newer cars have it? I haven't seen what the existing relay looks like . But i may have to run some wires from it under the dash to under the hood to hook up to the relay. Anyone done that? I didn't see any posts about it. Thanks |
that should work fine.
the wiring is pretty simple, large wire feeding the relay, control wire to the relay, one to the starter circuit, hmm, there is 4 wires feeding the relay... one to the glow light on dash? the kit likely has all the instructions to wire this. If you have a diagram from the 85 to see where all the wires go, you shouldn't have problems wiring it up. |
