what is this line and why is it leaking?
In my continuing quest to track the whining I hear when driving, I decided to change the trans fluid and filter. I crawled under and saw a wet hose covering a 5/16 +- flexible line that ran from the driverside of the trans through the firewall and into the dash.
What is it and can I get a replacement? I will get some pics.

that sounds like the speedometer cable... it should not be leaking, but it could have oil spray collecting on it, so it appears to be leaking.

Could it leak where it enters the trans?
And more importantly could it be the cause of the "whine" I have been tracking? The whine follows road speed and speeds up and slows down accordingly. I rolled with the trans in neutral and it still whines.
